As millions of people in several Luzon provinces and Metro Manila area are affected by heavy rains and massive floods caused by the southwest monsoon, the Federation of Filipino–Chinese Chambers of Commerce &
Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines (FFCAP) immediately launched relief operations in Pampanga and Tarlac provinces.
Through its Pampanga and Tarlac chapters with the cooperation of local government units, FFCCCII and FFCAP distributed 3,000 packs of relief goods in Pampanga and 1,000 packs in Tarlac.
FFCCCII also immediately called an emergency meeting with the different organizations of the Chinese-Filipino community to launch a fund drive for relief operations. FFCCCII leads the fund drive together with FFCAP, World News Daily, Filipino-Chinese Amity Club, Overseas Chinese Alumni Association of the Philippines and Filipino-Chinese Shin Lian Association, Inc. They were able to generate 17.85 Million Pesos on the first day of the fund drive.
In the coming days, the fund drive organizers will continue distributing relief goods in areas affected by the massive floods, in cooperation with local government units and Department of Social Welfare and Development.
