A dialogue organized by the newly designated Director of PNP Highway Patrol Group , Police Chief Supt. Arrazad P. Subong was held on November 7, 2012, 9:00 am, at the HPG Conference Room, Camp Crame, Quezon City. The dialogue aims to curb hijacking and similar highway robbery activities which are in line with the HPG’s mandate to enforce PD 532(Anti-Piracy and Anti-Highway Robbery Law). The meeting was presided by PNP-HPG Deputy Director of Operation, Police Senior Supt. Reuben Teodore C. Sindac.
Some of the issues taken during the discussions were:
1. Modus Operandi of Hijacking Syndicates.
2. Issues on Police Response and Related Concerns.
3. Adoption of anti-hijacking best practices.
Several measures to avoid being a victim of the highway robberies were suggested during the discussions. Gadgets such as a GPRS can be installed where you can control your car anywhere through the Internet. You will have exact information where your car is and can also stop the engine.
The PNP-HPG will also constantly review and strengthen the anti-hijacking measures being implemented by the PNP in order to suppress these illegal activities.
